Libya – The General Command of the Armed Forces has announced the death of Major General Fawzi Al-Mansouri, director of military intelligence. Al-Mansouri was recognized for his bravery in battles and his fight against terrorism during Operation Dignity.
In a statement received by Al-Marsad newspaper, the General Command said Al-Mansouri was assassinated in a “cowardly and vile act” after leaving a mosque following evening prayers. The assassination was carried out by placing an explosive device on his car.
The General Command noted that the method used in this attack resembles the tactics employed by terrorists in 2014, which targeted officers, activists, and critics. They vowed that those responsible for the assassination would be brought to justice.
The Armed Forces extended their condolences to Al-Mansouri’s family, loved ones, and military colleagues. The statement emphasized that his killing would not deter ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and to work towards Libya’s stability, security, and the unification of its institutions.
