Benghazi – Libyan National Army Commander Khalifa Abu Al-Qasim Haftar conducted a field tour of several reconstruction and development projects in Benghazi. He was accompanied by the Director General of the Libyan Development and Reconstruction Fund, Engineer Belkacem Khalifa Haftar, and the Mayor of Benghazi, Counselor Azeddine Al-Gharabi.
The General Command’s media office said the tour included the Sabri district, the city center, and the Benghazi Corniche. Haftar reviewed the work of the assessment and compensation committee, responsible for surveying damaged and uninhabitable buildings and overseeing measures to settle the situation of affected residents as reconstruction efforts continue.
The media office added that the Sabri and city center reconstruction committee presented project plans and proposals, along with updates on work already underway at several sites.
According to the office, Haftar highlighted the historic and social significance of the Sabri area and city center, calling them vital to Benghazi. He stressed the importance of completing reconstruction in line with modern standards to ensure proper services and facilities for residents.
The tour concluded with a visit to the Children’s, Women’s, and Maternity Hospital project. Haftar reviewed the final construction stages and praised the project’s central role in enhancing specialized healthcare services.
