Ghat – The municipality of Ghat has launched training programs aimed at equipping young people with professional skills to help them enter the job market. The initiative follows the outcomes of the First Youth Forum and is organized in cooperation with several training and support organizations.
Ahmed Al-Souqi Amghar, Mayor of Ghat, told the Libyan News Agency that the municipality has coordinated with various training bodies to select programs providing participants with specific skills and trades. These programs are intended to improve employment prospects for graduates after completing the courses.
Registration for the training programs is open until November 5. After that, administrative procedures will be completed in cooperation with supporting organizations. Al-Souqi Amghar noted that these procedures might take some time before training begins.
Meanwhile, the municipality of Ghat participated in the closing of the 2026 National Forum on Community Readiness and Local Action, held in Benghazi on October 25 and 26. The event, held under the slogan “From Human Security Guidelines to Local Risk-Based Action in Libya,” brought together the municipalities of Ghat, Sabha, Murzuq, and Ubari.
At the conclusion of the forum, officials signed and delivered a disaster risk reduction plan. The initiative is intended to support local planning and boost the readiness and capacity of municipalities to deal with risks, thereby helping protect citizens and enhance human security.
