Haftar Receives French President Macron’s Envoy to Discuss the Future Political Path in Libya

Ar-Rajma – The General Commander of the Armed Forces, Field Marshal Khalifa Abu Al-Qasim Haftar, received the French Special Envoy, Mr. Paul Soler, today, Monday, at his office in the General Command headquarters in the Ar-Rajma area.

During the meeting, Mr. Soler conveyed the greetings of French President Emmanuel Macron to Field Marshal Haftar and the Libyan people, emphasizing the deep-rooted relations between the two countries.

Discussions focused on the latest developments in Libya’s political landscape, with both sides examining ways to enhance joint action to reach a unified vision for creating suitable conditions to hold presidential and parliamentary elections. The two parties stressed the importance of forming a single, unified government to oversee this electoral process, ensuring its integrity and the acceptance of its results by all factions.

This meeting is part of the ongoing diplomatic efforts by France, alongside the international community, to support the political settlement process in Libya and end the prolonged state of division. Paris supports the necessity of unifying Libyan institutions as a fundamental step toward achieving sustainable stability in the country.

The Libyan file has recently witnessed intense political activity, with growing local and international calls for the need to expedite a comprehensive solution to the crisis that leads to long-awaited elections, fulfilling the aspirations of the Libyan people to build a democratic and stable state.
