Political activist Hassan al-Saghir opined that the recent explosion in the city of Bani Walid, targeting the headquarters of the 444th Brigade, “will not have any significant human or material damage, given that it occurred in an isolated area.”
In a post on his Facebook account, al-Saghir suggested that the explosion was not the result of a suicide operation as the 444th Brigade had claimed.
He explained that the objective of the operation was “to enable Mahmoud Hamza to flee the capital, Tripoli, and to avoid a confrontation with the Dbeibah government,” pointing out that the latter “abandoned him and has not held any meetings with him since he was used in the liquidation of Ghneiwa al-Kikli.”
The political activist added that Hamza’s movements over the past 72 hours, and the withdrawal of his forces from the Tripoli axes, support this possibility.
These statements come against the backdrop of reports about the targeting of the 444th Brigade’s camp in Bani Walid by a car bomb driven by a terrorist.
