Khaled Al-Mishri, chairman of the High Council of State, on Friday spoke on the phone with Richard Norland, the U.S. Special Envoy and Ambassador to Libya, to discuss recent political developments in Libya.
This notably comes after the council reportedly backed the decision of the House of Representatives to name Fathi Bashagha as the new prime minister, replacing Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh who refused to hand over power.
According to a statement by the council, Al-Mishri and Norland discussed “bilateral relations between the two countries” and “the latest political developments”.
The two agreed upon “the importance of moving towards the constitutional path to reach the elections.”
