Benghazi – The head of the Audit Bureau appointed by the House of Representatives, Omar Abdulrabba Saleh, issued a decision prohibiting the issuance of licenses for service, economic, and professional activities by any government entity other than municipalities, affirming that this jurisdiction is legally defined in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 59 of 2012 and its executive regulations.
The Bureau explained that during a performance review of a number of entities, violations were detected, consisting of granting licenses outside the scope of legal authority, which was considered a “usurpation of the powers of others and a conflict with what is stipulated in local legislation.”
Abdulrabba called on all institutions and bodies to adhere to their legal jurisdictions and to stop issuing any licenses for activities within the scope of municipalities, stressing that any license must be issued exclusively by the competent municipal authority.
