High Committee Reviews Arrangements for Implementing the Cultural and Artistic Program for Benghazi as Arab Capital of Culture 2026

Benghazi – The Higher Committee for the “Benghazi Arab Capital of Culture 2026” initiative held its sixth meeting to review preparations for the accompanying cultural and artistic program. The committee discussed the readiness of venues and related committees ahead of the start of the scheduled activities.

During the meeting, held on Sunday evening, members outlined coordination mechanisms between specialized committees. They also focused on finalizing organizational, technical, and administrative aspects to ensure the program is implemented on schedule and aligns with the event’s goals.

The committee addressed the range of activities planned, including cultural, literary, artistic and heritage events. The agenda will also feature workshops, exhibitions, programs for children and people with disabilities, and projects to beautify the city and highlight its visual identity.

In previous meetings, the committee approved several events, such as a discounted book fair from September 25 to October 5, a general book fair from November 1 to 10, as well as seminars, workshops, and the participation of guests from Libya and abroad.

Benghazi is set to host the “Arab Capital of Culture 2026” events from September through December next year, aiming to showcase the city’s cultural and historical legacy and strengthen its role in the Arab cultural scene.
