Benghazi – The House of Representatives’ Defense and National Security Committee has firmly rejected any attempts or plans to resettle undocumented migrants within Libyan territory.
In an official statement, the committee stressed that its position is a core national principle tied to protecting Libya’s sovereignty and national security. The committee emphasized that Libya is a fully sovereign state, and all migration issues must be handled in accordance with national sovereignty and Libyan laws.
The statement noted that any approach to irregular migration must safeguard Libya’s national identity and demographic composition. The committee said the challenges of irregular migration cannot be solved at the expense of the Libyan people, nor by turning Libya into a zone of permanent settlement for migrants.
The committee warned against any direct or indirect efforts to alter the country’s demographics or threaten its national identity, social stability, or economy. It also cautioned against any steps or initiatives that undermine Libya’s core national principles or attempt to change the country’s population structure.
The committee declared that the Libyan people and national institutions will not accept any projects that make Libya an alternative homeland for undocumented migrants under any pretext.
