International Organization for Migration (IOM) announced Monday that 36 migrants were intercepted and returned to Libya in the period of 8-14 January 2023.
IOM said last Monday that 1,067 migrants were intercepted and returned to Libya in the period of 1-7 January.
In 2022, according to IOM, 24,684 were intercepted and returned to Libya, 529 died, and 848 went missing on the Central Mediterranean route.
In 2021, 32,425 were intercepted and returned to Libya, 662 died, and 891 went missing, IOM statistics say.
