The Italian Senate on Thursday ratified the agreement on the transfer of sentenced persons, signed between Libya and Italy in Palermo on September 29, 2023. The agreement allows Libyan convicts in Italy to serve their sentences inside Libya, close to their families and within their social environment.
The Libyan Embassy in Rome, through its media office, expressed its thanks and gratitude to all members of the Italian Senate for their ratification of the agreement, particularly praising the efforts of Senator Marco Scurria, president of the parliamentary group for friendship with Libya, in advancing this process.
The embassy also extended its thanks to the Italo-Libyan Chamber of Commerce for its continuous support and to all who contributed to the achievement of this important milestone.
The embassy affirmed that the ratification of the agreement represents a prominent milestone in strengthening judicial cooperation between the two countries and paves the way for further joint work in the fields of justice and social reintegration.
