Benghazi – The President of the University of Benghazi, Dr. Ezzeldeen Al-Dursi, met on Thursday with a delegation from the Afak Libya for Training and Consulting company. The meeting was attended by the Director of the University of Benghazi’s Business Incubator, Dr. Lubna Al-Sheikhi, the University’s Vice President for Community Service, Dr. Yahya Lamloum, and the Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Dr. Amal Al-Sharif.
The meeting included a discussion on mechanisms to enhance the partnership between the two sides to establish a culture of entrepreneurship in the city, enabling young entrepreneurs to work in an environment that stimulates the creation and implementation of ideas.
Representatives from Afak Libya gave a presentation on the nature of the company’s work and its programs for supporting youth projects, showcasing the experience of the “Al-Wafa for Fezzan project,” which contributed to supporting 1,600 existing projects during its first phase in the Fezzan region.
For her part, the Director of the University of Benghazi’s Business Incubator reviewed the incubator’s achievements over the past four years, which included training more than 2,000 male and female students, the incubator’s participation in several local and international competitions, as well as establishing partnerships and memoranda of understanding with several supporting entities.
The University’s Vice President for Community Service reviewed the university’s current efforts in community service and promoting sustainability, emphasizing the university’s direction towards supporting entrepreneurial initiatives of all categories.
The Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Dr. Amal Al-Sharif, gave a presentation that addressed the most prominent obstacles facing the adoption of entrepreneurship within the university and the city. She also presented the “Entrepreneurship Without Borders” experience, which aims to involve various segments of society, with a focus on women and people with disabilities, and the center’s general plan for the coming year.
The meeting concluded with an agreement between the two parties to begin implementing the first steps of joint cooperation, preparing an executive plan for a project to support young entrepreneurs in the city of Benghazi, and launching training programs and joint meetings between the two sides.
