Jordan, under the directives of King Abdullah II, will provide any assistance Libya needs after Storm Daniel unleashed extreme floods that killed at least 150 across the country’s eastern coastal line.
This was announced by Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi via social media platform X as he expressed his country’s condolences to the families of the victims.
“[Jordan] stands in solidarity with [Libya] during these tragic circumstances and, with the directives from His Majesty the King, will provide any assistance they need.”
With over 100 reported dead and dozens missing, Libya’s Red Crescent and Ambulance and Emergency Service are currently carrying out search and rescue operations to evacuate hundreds of trapped civilians, and to locate those who have been reported missing.
Rival authorities in eastern and western parts of the country have announced three days of national mourning and ordered flags across the country to be lowered to half-mast.
