Benghazi – The scientific program of the Chemistry Department was launched today at the Faculty of Science at the University of Benghazi, in the presence of several faculty members, researchers, and graduate students, as part of the department’s efforts to enhance scientific research and develop students’ academic and practical skills.
The program aims to improve students’ proficiency in the practical aspects of chemistry and to link theoretical knowledge with practical application through workshops, laboratory experiments, and training courses supervised by specialized professors in various branches of chemistry.
In a statement to the Libyan News Agency, the Head of the Chemistry Department, Rashid Al-Ferjani, explained that the Scientific Day aims to introduce students to the department’s specializations and its importance, as it is a precise field that relies on a passion for experimentation and scientific research.
He added that the program is part of the department’s plan to update curricula and keep pace with modern scientific developments, emphasizing the university’s commitment to creating a stimulating scientific environment for research and innovation.
For his part, Fakhri Al-Abbar, the Graduate Studies Coordinator and a faculty member in the department, explained that the program includes a series of scientific activities, including introductory lectures on quality programs and graduate studies, in addition to research presentations by students and faculty members, including research conducted at universities abroad.
He noted that the goal of these activities is to enhance communication between students and faculty members, contributing to building a more interactive and creative learning environment.
The Scientific Day also includes panel discussions on the industrial and medical applications of chemistry, as well as research projects in which students participate under the direct supervision of specialized professors.This event comes within the framework of the University of Benghazi’s vision to develop basic sciences and support national talents in the field of scientific research, contributing to graduating qualified cadres capable of contributing to the renaissance of society and the development of the industrial sector in Libya.
