Tripoli – The second edition of the Peace Festival for Folk Song began yesterday, Monday, and will run until November 22 at the Al-Kashaf Theater in Tripoli, with the participation of a group of pioneers of Libyan folk art from various cities.
Fawzi Al-Subaihi, a member of the media committee for the Peace Festival for Folk Song, announced the launch of the second edition’s activities, featuring a group of pioneers of Libyan folk art from different cities.
In a statement to the Libyan News Agency, Al-Subaihi said that the second edition builds on the success of the first edition held two years ago, stressing that the festival provides an artistic space to celebrate Libya’s folk song heritage and to highlight the voices that have contributed to preserving this authentic form of art.
Al-Subaihi explained that the festival will honor a number of artists and media figures who played a prominent role in enriching Libyan folk song, including artist Hamid Al-Kilani, artist Abdulsalam Bahroun, media personality Rajab Al-Qamati known as Rajab Video, and artist Miftah Al-Fahri.
He added that the festival’s program includes special musical performances by artists: Sabri Dakhil, Issam Al-Abeidi, Mohammed Al-Qamati, Abdullah Sheeha, Mohammed Hadiya, Kamal Al-Toumi, Abdulsalam Al-Shak, Mahmoud Al-Rajbani, Salah Al-Fitouri, Ramzi Al-Abeidi, Yousef Hafeez, Ramzi Shahoub, and Omar Al-Mezdawi.
Al-Subaihi affirmed that the preparatory committee is striving to present the festival in a manner befitting the Libyan arts scene and to promote the spirit of peace and unity through folk song, which represents the nation’s memory and its diverse beauty. (Libyan News Agency – Tripoli) H.A.
