Tripoli – The Law Enforcement Department announced an operation. They seized a truck in Mezdah city. The truck carried 400 boxes of cooking oil. This oil was being sold at inflated prices. These prices violated official rates set by the Ministry of Economy and Trade.
The department explained this in a post on its official page on Tuesday. Invoices accompanying the shipment showed high prices. A single oil package was priced at 17.50 dinars. This clearly violated basic commodity price regulations.
Department personnel immediately seized the truck. They also confiscated its contents. The truck and oil were handed over to the Municipal Guard. The guard will take necessary legal actions within their jurisdiction.
This action enforces a decision by the Minister of Economy and Trade. Minister Mohamed Al-Huaij issued Decision No. 5 of 2026. The decision sets prices for cooking oil. Article one specifies consumer prices for 850 ml oil packages. Corn oil should sell for 8.75 dinars. Sunflower oil should sell for 8.25 dinars. Mixed oil should sell for 7.50 dinars.
The Law Enforcement Department affirmed its ongoing efforts. They will continue to monitor and control price violations. This protects consumers from exploitation. It also ensures adherence to approved pricing.
