A number of members of the House of Representatives have called for the restructuring and redistribution of sovereign positions to achieve the principle of balance and ensure the proper management of state institutions.
In a statement, the MPs stressed that the continuation of the current situation has become politically, legally, and morally unacceptable, and that sovereign positions must be granted according to professional standards that consider competence, not narrow interests.
The MPs said that leaving sovereign positions in the hands of one party or one region weakens trust among Libyans and hinders the building of a just state based on the principle of national partnership.
The statement also stressed the need to end the monopoly over sensitive institutions such as the Central Bank of Libya, the Audit Bureau, the Administrative Control Authority, the Public Prosecution, and the Supreme Judicial and Financial Councils.
The signatories of the statement clarified that restructuring these positions according to constitutional and agreed-upon rules has become a national demand, which would ensure the reform of state institutions and restore the Libyan public’s trust in its legislative and oversight authorities.
The MPs concluded their statement by affirming their commitment to continue working to achieve this goal in the next phase, in a way that serves Libya’s stability and preserves the unity of its institutions.
