Member of the Technical Committee of the Libyan 5+5 Joint Military Commission (JMC), Muhammed al-Turjuman, confirmed on Wednesday the beginning of destroying explosive remnants of war, weighing more than 70 tons.
Al-Turjuman explained that the process of destroying the remnants will continue over a period of about a week, at a rate of two or three explosions per day, between 12:00 and 1:00 p.m.
The US State Department had previously stated that the full extent of contamination with landmines and explosive remnants of war in Libya is still unknown due to the events of 2011 and the ten-year war.
