The Libyan Democratic Party has welcomed the parliament’s granting of confidence to the new government of Fathi Bashagha, by a majority of 92 votes out of 111.
The party stressed in a statement the need to continue on the consensual path, and to commit to completing all the entitlements stipulated in the road map and included in the twelfth constitutional amendment, in an unprecedented step based on a Libyan-Libyan consensus with a Libyan will by which the Libyans regained the political initiative.
The party called on the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) and the international community to support this consensus between the Libyan parties in order to reach stability and prepare for holding the elections.
