Chairman of the Libyan Telecommunications Holding Company (LPTIC) , Faisal Qarqab, signed memorandum of cooperation and technical support with the Chairman of the High National Elections Commission (HNEC), Imad Al-Sayeh, in the field of communications technology, related to electoral processes, as part of preparations for the December 24, 2021 elections, according to LPTIC.
The memorandum was signed Sunday in Tripoli in the presence of Abdel Hamid Dbeibeh, Prime Minister of the Interim Government of National Unity, Mousa al-Kouni, Vice President of the Presidential Council, and Georgette Gagnon, Deputy Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL); While the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, and the United States Special Envoy to Libya, Richard Norland, participated in the ceremony through video conferencing. Representatives of the Libyan government and foreign embassies in Libya were also present, LPTIC said on its official Facebook page.
The Company said the aim of the memorandum was to harness all available capabilities to support conduct of electoral process, raise awareness among electoral process partners, and provide accurate information through advanced means of various communication technology, which enables positive participation in the success of the elections.
