Members of Libya’s House of Representatives (HoR) from the western and southern regions have expressed their support for a new UN-led political roadmap and pledged to engage constructively on its implementation.
The commitment was made during a meeting with a team from the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).
The discussions focused on the incremental roadmap presented last month by Special Representative of the Secretary-General Hanna Tetteh, which aims to unify the country’s institutions and pave the way for national elections.
The HoR members affirmed their readiness to swiftly engage on the process, which begins with filling vacancies on the High National Elections Commission and amending the electoral framework.
