MILAN | Masoud Suleiman, Chairman of Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC), participated today in enriching a dialogue session on the future of energy in North Africa amid current challenges and ensuring gas supplies for the global market, according to NOC.

This came as part of his participation in the Gas Technology Conference held in Milan, NOC said in a statement.

He was joined in this session by Rachid Hachichi, Chairman of the Board of Algeria’s Sonatrach, and Tarek El Molla, former Egyptian Minister of Petroleum.

During his participation, Engineer Masoud Suleiman highlighted the significant interest major leading international companies in exploration and energy industries have shown in the latest public bidding round.

He also emphasized Libya’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions by minimizing gas flaring and transitioning towards clean energy.

He outlined the Corporation’s strategy to increase oil and gas production according to a well-studied timeline that ensures the application of modern technologies to preserve the environment.

In the same context, the Chairman of the Board of the NOC held a meeting with officials from the Italian company Eni.

During the meeting, the two parties reviewed the joint projects currently underway and future projects planned to support plans for increasing natural gas production.

The two sides also discussed the potential for increasing Eni’s investments, accelerating the development of the exploration blocks assigned to the company, establishing a timeline for development plans, and agreeing on a more efficient mechanism for implementation and financing.
