Beijing – In a significant step toward enhancing Libya’s infrastructure, the Director-General of the National Development Agency and his accompanying delegation held a strategic meeting with officials from China State Construction Engineering Corporation Limited (CSCEC), one of the world’s largest construction and engineering firms.
The Chinese giant is known for implementing several iconic projects worldwide, most notably the “Iconic Tower” in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital (the tallest tower in Africa) and the “Djamaa el Djazaïr” (Great Mosque of Algiers) in Algeria (the world’s third-largest mosque). Additionally, the company built the African Union headquarters in Ethiopia and has participated in major “Vision 2030” projects in Saudi Arabia and the construction of Al Maktoum International Airport in the UAE.
This meeting was part of the Agency’s official tour of the People’s Republic of China, aimed at exploring new prospects for cooperation.
During the meeting, the two parties discussed avenues of joint cooperation for implementing a package of vital projects in Libya, including the development of roads and bridges, the construction of high-rise buildings, and public works.
The two parties also discussed opportunities for joint investment and mechanisms for exchanging technical expertise, particularly in the fields of advanced design, modern construction methods, and large-scale project management.
The National Development Agency emphasized that these talks are part of its efforts to strengthen international partnerships and attract global expertise to implement high-quality projects aligned with “Libya Vision 2030.” These efforts aim to accelerate the pace of infrastructure development, improve public services, and support the urban development process in various Libyan cities.
