The Special Forces of the Libyan National Army (LNA) said on Friday the death of a woman from Tawergha, who was living in Benghazi, was due to a car incident, denying rumors on social media that claimed the woman’s death was a premeditated murder.
“The rumors about the kidnapping and killing of a Tawerghan woman in the city of Benghazi are baseless,” said spokesman of LNA’s Special Forces General Milad Al-Zawi in a statement.
“The young woman passed away as a result of a car accident,” he said. “We ask God to have mercy on her and give her family patience and solace.”
Al-Zawi urged social media bloggers “not to rush into reporting and promoting news without proof and without reliable sources”.
