High Council of State member Mohamed Maazab said that the Council has formed a committee to study the roadmap proposed by the UN envoy, to develop arrangements to be presented in a general session. He explained that the committee has held continuous meetings and made a significant effort, and is expected to complete its work soon.
In an appearance on the “Tonight’s Dialogue” program on Libya Al Ahrar TV, Maazab noted that the committee has not yet disclosed any details and is still in the process of preparing its final report. He added that there are some differences of opinion, but not a major gap, and that the report will express the committee’s position and will be presented later to the general session.
He explained that the Mission has set September and October, with the first week of December being a key milestone concerning the restructuring of the Commission and considering the required amendments.
He stated that before the House of Representatives announced the selection of three figures, a temporary committee for sovereign positions, “formed a year and a half ago,” had been in contact with the High Council of State for a week and has not yet returned. He stressed that the starting point will be to address the Commission’s file and that the Council is responsive on this issue.
He mentioned that the UN Mission held a long meeting with the presidency office of the High Council of State and requested engagement with the roadmap, then proceeded to the House of Representatives.
Maazab said he could not confirm that the alleged meeting between Ibrahim Dbeibeh and Saddam Haftar, attended by Massaad Boulos, took place, as no official statement has been issued by either side. He considered the matter inaccurate, stating that forming a solid opinion requires confirmations, not speculation.
