Sirte – In a significant step towards revitalizing Libya’s tourism and business infrastructure, a contract has been signed for the comprehensive renovation and development of the Mahary Hotel and the Guesthouse Palaces area in Sirte. The agreement, a key project under the Libya Vision 2030 framework, was finalized between Libya’s National Development Agency, represented by its Director General, and a major Turkish corporation specializing in hotel construction and investment development.
The ambitious project aims to rehabilitate the Mahary Hotel and the adjacent Guesthouse Palaces, located near the Sirte Free Zone port, transforming them into a modern, state-of-the-art hospitality complex that adheres to the highest international standards. A primary objective of this initiative is to prepare the facilities to attract a world-renowned hotel brand or an international hotel chain for future management and operation.
The Mahary Hotel component of the project includes the renovation of its 55 hotel rooms, four administrative offices, and a conference hall with a capacity for 50 people. The development plan encompasses a complete redesign of the interior spaces, a renewal of the building’s exterior facade, and extensive landscaping of the surrounding grounds and gardens. Furthermore, the project will involve a thorough modernization of the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, as well as the installation of contemporary furniture and fixtures to cultivate a modern hotel identity.
In addition to the hotel, the project will see the transformation of the presidential Guesthouse Palaces area. This includes 100 “A” type palaces, 54 “B” type palaces, and 80 “C” type palaces, which are slated to be repurposed into a dedicated business zone to foster entrepreneurship within the Sirte Free Zone.
This strategic development is a cornerstone of the Libya Vision 2030 plan, championed by the National Development Agency. It underscores the agency’s commitment to stimulating tourism development and enhancing the hotel infrastructure and services in Sirte and the central regions of the country.
