Benghazi — Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA), held talks yesterday with tribal leaders from the Al-Butnan region in eastern Libya.
The meeting, held at the LNA’s headquarters in Benghazi, focused on security coordination and stabilizing areas under the LNA’s control, according to an LNA statement.
“The tribes of Al-Butnan expressed their continued backing of the LNA’s role in providing security and stability in the east,” said tye statement. “They pledged to stand with the LNA in the face of any attempts to undermine Libya’s sovereignty.”
Marshal Haftar affirmed the LNA’s appreciation of the tribes’ support since 2014. “The General Command will continue efforts to improve living conditions and services for the people of Al-Butnan through our military and civilian institutions,” he added.
