German Chancellor Angela Merkel discussed withdrawal of foreign mercenaries from Libya with Russian President Vladimir Putin, during their meeting in Moscow.
Merkel stressed, in a joint press conference with Putin, the need to “implement the outcomes of the Libyan conference in Berlin, which called for a proportionate and mutual withdrawal of foreign mercenaries, while enabling the Libyan forces to shape the future of the country they want.”
Putin praised “Germany’s efforts in convening the Berlin Conference, thanks to which much was accomplished in this direction, and the decisions it made helped improve the situation on the ground.”
