Tripoli – The Minister of Education, Mohammed Al-Qaryou, followed up on recent developments. He met with Mustafa Al-Manaa. Al-Manaa leads the Executive Team for Government Initiatives and Strategic Projects. They discussed the initiative to improve English language education in Libyan schools.
The meeting took place on Sunday evening in Tripoli. Representatives from the British Council and the Teacher Training Institute attended. They reviewed the results of a level assessment for over 2,000 English teachers. They also monitored the implementation of a recently launched teacher training program. Expert reports on revising and developing English language curricula were discussed.
Attendees emphasized the need to continue implementing the Prime Minister’s instructions. This includes the horizontal expansion of the initiative. It should cover English teachers in all education inspectorates across Libya.
The Assistant Director-General of the British Council attended. The project manager at the Council was also present. Several experts and Ministry of Education officials participated.
The initiative is part of a national program. It aims to elevate English language teaching standards in Libyan schools. This is achieved by assessing teacher capabilities. It also involves implementing professional training and qualification programs. Curriculum review and development are key components. This effort will enhance teacher efficiency. It will also improve educational outcomes.
