Benghazi – Preparation and installation work has commenced. This work is for the Al-Kish Injection Substation. The substation operates at 220/30/11 kilovolts. It is located in Benghazi. The Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund supports the project. The Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy provides direct supervision. This project is part of a strategic plan. It aims to enhance general grid capacity. It also seeks to improve electricity supply quality in the city.
Technical work continues rapidly inside the station. Installation of 11 kilovolt cells is currently underway. These are being placed in their dedicated hall. This prepares for the next phase. The next phase involves equipping the 30 kilovolt cell equipment basement hall. Work adheres to the latest approved technical specifications. This ensures the highest levels of safe and reliable operation. This stage is a fundamental step. It will integrate the station into the region’s electrical system.
Electro-Thrott Company is carrying out the installation and preparation work. Direct technical supervision comes from the Benghazi Plain Distribution Projects Follow-up and Implementation Department. This ensures compliance with engineering standards. It also adheres to specified timelines. The Al-Kish station is a crucial strategic project in Benghazi. It will provide power to several development and reconstruction projects. It will also reduce loads on existing stations. Furthermore, it will enhance grid stability.
In a related context, the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy has completed work. This was a rapid response to recent dust storm damage. The storm severely affected the electrical network. The Ministry installed five new 66 kilovolt towers. This work was in the Al-Abyar area. The previous towers had fallen. Several vital power transmission circuits were affected. The Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund supported this effort.
Following the incident, Electricity Minister Awad Al-Badri conducted an urgent field visit. He assessed the extent of the damage. He issued immediate instructions to begin reconstruction. This was due to the strategic importance of the towers. They are crucial for electricity supply stability. The National Construction and Consulting Company was assigned to execute the work. The work must meet the highest technical specifications.
Technical teams immediately began their work. First, power was secured via alternative sources. This ensured service continuity. Then, reconstruction commenced. Work proceeded from foundations to metal structure installation. Transmission lines were also laid. Work was continuous until the project’s completion in a short period. These towers are a main artery for power transmission. They serve the East Al-Marj (1/2) 66 kilovolt circuits. These circuits supply Al-Abyar, Al-Maliytaniyah, and Madour Al-Zaytoun areas. The completion restored normal operational status. It also enhanced grid reliability against emergency conditions.
