Benghazi – The Libyan government’s Ministry of Environment issued a warning. Large parts of the Libyan coast will be affected by a low-pressure system. It is arriving from Southern Europe. The system is expected to bring weather fluctuations. These include rain, active winds, and a drop in temperatures. This will occur in the coming days.
Fares Fathi is the Director of the Ministry’s Geographic and Environmental Systems Department. He stated the Ministry’s air quality and weather monitoring stations show the low-pressure system’s impact. It will begin on the western coastal areas Saturday evening. Clouds will gradually increase. There are chances of scattered rainfall. Western wind speeds could reach 56 kilometers per hour.
Fathi explained the low-pressure system’s peak impact will be on Sunday. This will be on the western coast. Heavier rain is expected. Winds exceeding 60 kilometers per hour will accompany it. Temperatures will significantly drop. They will range between 12 and 15 degrees Celsius.
He added that eastern coastal areas will start feeling weather fluctuations. This will happen on Sunday evening. There is a chance of rain. Western winds will exceed 50 kilometers per hour. Rain is expected to continue until Monday afternoon. Wind speeds will relatively decrease. Temperatures will stabilize between 12 and 18 degrees Celsius.
In contrast, Fathi confirmed relative weather stability in the central regions. The Oil Crescent and southern areas will also see stable weather. These areas will remain away from the low-pressure system’s direct impact. Scattered clouds will appear. There is a very low chance of rain.
The Ministry of Environment urged citizens to exercise caution. Coastal road users should be particularly careful. This is due to active winds. Horizontal visibility may decrease during rainfall.
