Student Union of the Faculty of Law at Tripoli University: Disruption of the judicial scene in Libya has serious repercussions on the justice system

Tripoli – The Student Union of the Faculty of Law at Tripoli University affirmed its solidarity. It stands united with the judiciary’s unity and independence. The union is committed to preserving its status and prestige. It also upholds its role as an institution. This institution is entrusted with establishing justice and protecting rights.

In a statement, the union declared the unity and independence of the judiciary as fundamental principles. These principles are linked to public order. Any action or measure that threatens this unity is unacceptable. It could also affect its structure and essential function. Such acts are considered a deviation from constitutional and legal frameworks. They pose a threat to the state’s security and stability.

The statement also noted that protecting the judiciary’s constitutional role is essential. This requires refraining from actions that could disrupt the judicial process. It also means avoiding influence on the judiciary’s neutrality and independence. Such interference has serious repercussions. It erodes public trust in the justice system. The principle of “preventing harm is prioritized over achieving benefits” guides this stance.

The union praised the efforts of the Public Prosecutor’s Office. It also commended its affiliated prosecutor’s offices. These efforts are dedicated to exercising their legal competencies. This includes fighting corruption and protecting public prosecutions. It also involves strengthening the rule of law. Furthermore, they safeguard the components of national identity. These actions are considered a fundamental pillar of criminal justice. They guarantee the protection of society.

The Student Union of the Faculty of Law at Tripoli University expressed its rejection. It opposes any infringement on the judiciary’s unity, independence, and constitutional role. A unified and independent judiciary is the ultimate guarantee. It ensures the achievement of justice. It also solidifies a state of law and institutions.

The statement stressed that the Libyan judiciary has been, is, and will remain unified. It is based on constitutional legitimacy and the rule of law. The Supreme Judicial Council oversees its affairs. The Supreme Court will also remain the pinnacle of the judicial hierarchy. It serves as the guardian of legitimacy. It also ensures the unity of legal interpretation.
