Ministry of Social Affairs refutes reports of its refusal to pay children grant

The Ministry of Social Affairs refuted reports claiming that it’s refusing to pay the children’s grant for the fourth quarter of last year.

The children’s grant is a social welfare payment that the Libyan government offers to Libyans under eighteen years of age.

In a statement released on Saturday, the ministry warned citizens “not to be drawn into false and fabricated news through social media pages and platforms.”

The ministry said the grant for the fourth quarter of 2021 “will be in their accounts in the coming days.” It also said that it is working to ensure that “the largest number of beneficiaries are included”.

This comes after Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh called on the ministry to clarify the reasons for the delay in disbursing the grant.
