Veteran international goalkeeper Mohammed Nachnoush announced on Sunday that he is leaving Al Ahly Tripoli after a 14-year career, during which he was a pillar of the team and its inspirational leader in the most difficult situations on the green rectangle.
In a touching farewell message to Al Za’im fans, the 37-year-old confirmed that his journey with Al Ahli Tripoli has come to an end, having recently won the Libyan Premier League title in Milan, Italy, in a long-awaited achievement.
Despite missing the six-way tie in Milan, his support for the team did not stop, as he played a major moral role in motivating fellow goalkeeper Ayman Altihar, who shone and contributed to the title.
At the international level, Nachnoush is one of the most prominent names in the history of Libyan goalkeeping, as he was one of the pillars of the national team during the African Cup of Nations for Local Players (CHAN 2014), the only official tournament in the history of Libyan football, in addition to his many international participations in which he left a clear imprint.
In his official farewell, Al Ahly Tripoli published a tribute message on their official pages, saying: “Your journey as a player may end here, but your status will remain immortal among us, and you will remain part of the achievements, championships and history of this great entity.”
With the departure of Nachnoush, Al Ahli Tripoli turns a bright page in its history, while the fans bid farewell to one of its symbols whose names were associated with giving and loyalty.
