A report published by the English-language Nepali site “Rato Pati” announced the start of a rotation for Nepalese peacekeepers assigned to the United Nations mission in Libya. Their main role is to secure the UN mission headquarters in the country.
The report stated that the first group from the Eighth Battalion, consisting of 42 soldiers, has arrived in Libya. They will replace members of the Seventh Battalion, 61 of whom have returned home after successfully completing their deployment.
According to the report, the Nepali Army provides security and support in Libya under a UN mandate. The total number of Nepalese troops serving with the UN mission in Libya currently stands at 213.
