The National Oil Corporation (NOC) confirmed Wednesday that the eruption of well D34A, which occurred on July 25, 2021, in the 103D field at Zueitina Oil Company, had been brought under control with the efforts and expertise of Libyan engineers and technicians, and the concerted efforts of those affiliated to NOC, the Zueitina Company and the operating and service companies.
The eruption of the aforementioned well was controlled within a record time that did not exceed 72 hours, by installing an additional blowout preventer, stopping the gas leak and closing the well, NOC said in a statement.
The drilling fluid was prepared and pumped with a density of 10.5 ppg in order to kill the well, secure the installation of the wellhead and finish the work, including the discharge of the rig, according to the Corporation.
