The Libyan Parliament spokesman Abdulla Bleihiq confirmed that the work of the Libyan government, headed by Fathi Bashagha, from Sirte will have positive effects, including preventing bloodshed of Libyans, noting that the parliament chose to hold a session in the city during the coming period in support of commencing the government’s work from the middle city.
In a press statement, Bleihiq said that Parliament Speaker Aqila Saleh addressed this issue during his last meeting with the U.S. ambassador to Libya, and also confirmed that the government’s presence in Sirte would prevent the country from entering a new war.
The Spokesman pointed out that the matter also corresponds to the Parliament Speaker’s initiative, which resulted in the Geneva Dialogue, leading to the selection of the Presidential Council and the previous government, where he called at the time for the seat of the Council and the government to be in Sirte so that they would not be hostage to the armed militias in the capital, Tripoli.
