Parliamentary Delegation Visits House of Representatives Headquarters and Reviews Its Facilities

Benghazi – A delegation of parliamentarians attending the regional conference on “Global Changes and Their Impact on the Region” visited the headquarters of the House of Representatives in Benghazi. They were accompanied by Libya’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdel Hadi Al-Huwaij.

The delegation was received by Jalal Al-Shuwaihdi, a member of the House of Representatives, along with Deputy Head of the House’s Office, Rasmi Al-Barouin, and several department and office directors.

During their visit, the delegation toured the House’s session hall and viewed a collection of historic photographs documenting the evolution of legislative authority in Libya. They also visited the parliamentary library, where they examined its collection of books, encyclopedias, documents, modern teaching tools, and spaces dedicated to reading and study.

At the library, the delegates heard from librarian Huda Al-Gharyani and staff, who explained the latest methods used for acquiring, cataloging, and organizing books. The group also learned about the electronic library and its system for digital access to sources and references.

Parliamentary Affairs Advisor Ahmed Hashash introduced the Asian-African Parliamentary Assembly, outlining its history, purpose, structure, activities, and key documents. He emphasized its foundation on the geographic and historical ties between the two continents.

Delegates from countries not yet part of the assembly were encouraged to urge their own parliaments to join, highlighting the importance of the organization in fostering parliamentary cooperation, unifying efforts, and coordinating positions to advance the causes of Asian and African peoples at regional and international forums.
