Al Jabal al Akhdar – The Food and Drug Control Center in Al Jabal al Akhdar has intensified its inspection tours of water purification and bottling factories and shops. During one recent tour, officials discovered a factory operating without a license inside a residential area. Inspectors recorded several health, technical, and environmental violations.
According to a statement on the center’s official page, the factory was purifying and bottling water in violation of health and environmental regulations. Inspectors reported poor hygiene and disinfection standards. They found floors made of unsanitary soil that could not be cleaned, as well as damaged and dirty walls and ceilings. Rust and residue were present on water tanks and pipes.
The inspection team also found car tires, oily materials, old rusty barrels, and equipment stored near the water tanks. Proper ventilation and sewage systems were lacking. Exposed and haphazard electrical wires were present. Water tanks remained uncovered and were exposed to dust and insects.
The center said the factory’s most significant violation was operating without a legal license. It recommended taking legal action, halting the factory’s operations, and confiscating non-compliant equipment and products. The center also called for continued and intensified inspections of water purification and bottling sites to protect public health and consumer safety.
