Preliminary phase of municipal elections begins

The High National Elections Commission announced, in a press conference today, the launch of the preliminary stage for electing municipal council members in 97 municipalities at the national level.

The Commission has specified a number of technical conditions for registration on electoral lists, such as the requirement to have phone numbers linked to the national numbers of voters, while the electronic system will refuse to register any citizen who does not meet this condition.

The Commission also confirmed the adoption of the same polling centers that were previously registered during the general elections, noting the separation between the municipal electoral register and the register for parliamentary and presidential elections.

At the conference, the Commission called on the government to support these local elections and provide full financial coverage for them as soon as possible, to ensure the success of the democratic process at the local level.
