Sirte – The Sirte Free Zone continues work on the eastern quay project at the port. The new quay will serve as a dedicated dry bulk terminal for grain, as well as berths for petroleum and gas. The project is 90 percent complete and aims to boost the port’s capacity for handling grain, dry goods, and support oil and gas operations to international standards.
According to the project report, 330 meters of the quay’s 360-meter length have been finished. Work continues on connecting it to the southern quay. Crews have also poured 600 meters of reinforced concrete slabs, well on track with the project’s targets.
The completed works include installing rubber fenders along 300 meters of the quay to upgrade marine infrastructure and enhance the port’s ability to receive various types of cargo.
The Sirte Free Zone stated that the project is nearing the final phase. Once finished, it will help strengthen economic and commercial activity and expand the port’s role in maritime transport and the energy sector.
