Suspension of NOC chief remains in force, says oil ministry

The suspension of Mustafa Sanalla, chairman of the National Oil Corporation (NOC), is still in effect “awaiting enforcement by authorities”, the oil ministry said on Monday.

In a statement via its Facebook page, the ministry also stated that its recommendation to replace Sanalla is still valid and would be presented to the government’s cabinet and the prime minister for approval.

Earlier today, Bloomberg reported that Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh decided to keep Sanalla in his post.

Oil Minister Mohamed Aoun had suspended Sanalla over a dispute regarding the latter’s overreaching influence.
