Temporary suspension of poultry transport in Traghen after detecting Newcastle disease infections

Traghan – Ahmed Hussein is the coordinator of the agriculture sector in Traghan Municipality. He announced recorded cases of Newcastle disease. The infections were found in several poultry farms within the municipality. This was based on veterinary follow-up results. It was also coordinated with the National Animal Health Center.

Hussein explained to Al-Anbaa Al-Libya newspaper. Authorities immediately implemented urgent precautionary measures. These included a temporary halt to poultry movement. Poultry movement from and to Traghan Municipality was stopped. The aim is to limit disease spread. It also aims to control infection hotspots.

He noted that veterinary teams continue epidemiological investigations. They are conducting field examinations of the farms. They are also assessing immunity levels. Approved preventive measures are being evaluated. Initial indicators suggest early bird infection. A common source of infection might also exist.

The agriculture sector coordinator stressed the importance. Poultry farm owners must comply with health and veterinary instructions. They need to cooperate fully with authorities. This protects animal wealth. It prevents disease outbreaks within the municipality. It prevents outbreaks in neighboring areas too.
