Tripoli-based Coast Guard confirmed it intercepted a fishing boat carrying 97 migrants of different nationalities off the western coast of the city.
The boat left at 7:30 p.m. and was intercepted at 2 a.m., the Coast Guard said in a statement.
Migrants were handed over to the General Administration of the Coast Guard in Tripoli, after providing humanitarian aid to them, then they were handed over to the Anti-Illegal Migration Agency, by the Head of the Coast Guard Department-Tripoli, with formal hand-over procedures, according to the Guard.
