UN Special Adviser on Libya, Stephanie Williams, has reiterated the “fundamental importance of preserving security, stability and unity, and refraining from acts of escalation provocation and violence.”
This comes at a time of reporting that an armed force linked to the Head of the outgoing government, Abdel Hamid Dbeibeh, detained two ministers from the new government of Bashagha, who were scheduled to take the oath on Thursday before the House of Representatives.
“I am here to support the electoral process and the aspirations of 2.8 million Libyans,” Williams tweeted on Thuesday.
“Today I will dispatch a letter to the House of Representatives (HoR) and the High Council of State (HCS) regarding talks I propose to immediately convene to establish a constitutional basis that will move the country to elections as soon as possible,” she added.
