UN Envoy Discusses Libya’s Political Transition with Presidential Council Head

The President of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Menfi, met today with the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy to Libya, Hanna Tetteh, and the Deputy Special Representative for Political Affairs, Stephanie Khoury, at the Council’s headquarters in Tripoli.

During the meeting, the UN envoy presented the mission’s plan to support the political process and facilitate dialogue among Libyan parties to end the transitional phase through a constitutional and legal framework. Discussions also covered preparations for the upcoming UN Security Council briefing on political and security developments in Libya, according Menfi’s Media Office.

The talks addressed the latest updates on the political and constitutional tracks, including proposals from the Advisory Committee and the (6+6) Committee, as well as security challenges and the Presidential Council’s role in maintaining stability.

Additionally, the meeting touched on President Al-Menfi’s financial audit initiative and the work of the committee overseeing expenditures of the National Oil Corporation and the General Electricity Company.
