UN envoy to Libya Abdoulaye Bathily has said he met on Sunday with more than twenty “security actors and representatives of armed formations” in the Western Region.
Bathily urged them “to fulfil their duty to establish peace and stability in Libya, heal wounds, and rebuild the country.”
It is noteworthy that the Western Region is controlled by several militias fighting for wealth and power, while the Eastern and Southern regions are controlled by the Libyan National Army (LNA), represented by its General Commander, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar.
