The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) has launched a digital platform dedicated to young Libyan men and women residing within the country, aged between 18 and 35, who wish to share their opinions on issues of the structured dialogue.
According to the mission’s media office, the platform aims to ensure the participation of the largest possible number of youth from different regions of Libya in the political process, by providing them a space to express their opinions and proposals on the issues discussed in the structured dialogue, complementing the efforts of the young members participating in it.
The mission noted that participants on the platform will be able to convey their viewpoints on the political and social issues at hand and share them with the dialogue participants to ensure that the voices of the youth are heard in shaping the country’s future.
The Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Libya, Hanna Tetteh, said: “The youth in Libya are not only the country’s future, but also its present. They are the most affected by the current political crisis, and they also stand to benefit the most from a peaceful transition that allows them to elect leaders of their choice.”
