The U.S. has welcomed the work of UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) ceasefire monitors and “looks forward to full operationalization of the ceasefire monitoring component,” according to US Mission to UN.
“We call on all states to adhere to Resolutions 2570 and 2571 and support immediate withdrawal of all foreign forces and mercenaries,” the Mission tweeted on Tuesday.
“Millions of Libyans are ready to vote and decide their own future. It is time for their will to be respected,” it added.
“Those vying to lead Libya must see that the Libyan people will only accept leadership empowered by elections,” it pointed out.
