Samuel Werberg, a spokesman for the U.S. State Department, said on Monday that all foreign forces must leave Libya, adding that Turkish forces are not an exception to that.
“Turkey sees that there is an exception for it, but the United States does not see that there is any basis for Turkish forces to remain in Libya, whether according to the agreement signed by the outgoing Government of National Accord or any of the former officials in Libya,” Werberg told Egyptian TV channel Sada Balad last night.
“The American position is very clear. Washington is against the presence of any foreign forces or mercenaries on Libyan soil, including forces and mercenaries from Turkey,” he added.
